Inspired at an early age by albums such as <em>Sladest<\/em> by Slade and <em>Made in Japan<\/em> by Deep Purple, Rob developed a deep appreciation for energetic, groove-driven drumming.<\/p>\n<p>His earliest influences were Don Powell (Slade) and Ian Paice (Deep Purple), whose styles sparked his desire to become a rock drummer. A defining moment came in 1976 when he witnessed legendary drummer Cozy Powell performing live with Rainbow during the <em>Rainbow Rising Tour<\/em> in The Hague. The combined influence of Cozy Powell, Ian Paice, Don Powell, and Leonard Haze (Y&amp;T) helped shape Rob into the drummer he aspired to be.<\/p>\n<p>A lifelong fan of classic hard rock and the big-hair rock era, Rob&#8217;s musical tastes include bands such as Van Halen, Warrant, FireHouse, Ratt, Winger, Poison, and Def Leppard. Above all, Aerosmith remains his all-time favorite band and a constant source of inspiration.<\/p>\n<p>Known for his larger-than-life approach to drumming, Rob has always believed that &#8220;bigger is better.&#8221; His drum kits are massive machines, typically featuring twin 26&#8243; x 24&#8243; bass drums. Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, he became known for customizing his kits with striking designs and unique colors. For Rob, drums are meant not only to be heard but also to be seen.<\/p>\n<p>His passion for big machinery extends beyond music.
